Professor Abdo joined the Board of Directors in [2022]. He is/was Professor of Medicine at King Saud University’s College of Medicine, Director of King Saud University’s Liver Disease Research Center, a consultant in gastroenterology and hepatology at King Khalid University Hospital, and a part-time liver transplant hepatologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center.
He is/was also Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (2016-2022), Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research (2013-2016), and Head of Academic Affairs at King Saud University’s College of Medicine and its Vice-Dean for Quality and Development (2008 to 2012).
Professor Abdo has been a member of many national boards, including the National Education and Training Evaluation Commission, the Saudi Patient Safety Center, the Saudi Public Health Authority, and the Saudi Medical Council. He was a founding member of the Pan-Arab Liver Transplant Society, the Saudi Association for Study of the Liver and Transplantation, Treasurer and Board Member of the Saudi Association of Gastroenterology, and Editor-in-Chief of the Saudi Journal of Gastroenterology.
Professor Abdo was awarded an MBBS from King Saud University (Saudi Arabia) in 1995. He then achieved certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2000, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Internal Medicine in 2001 and Gastroenterology in 2003), and a University of Calgary Fellowship (Hepatology and Liver Transplantation) in 2003
